According to The Telegraph’s John Percy<\/a>, Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> transfer news will begin with the club looking set to target a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wolves have struggled in front of goal this season, managing only 33 goals so far in the 2021\/22 campaign<\/a> despite looking like they will finish comfortably within the top half of the Premier League table.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who Could Wolves Target?<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Midlands club have so far been linked with young Reims striker Hugo Ekitike<\/a> following a prolific campaign in Ligue 1 this season. The highly-rated 19-year-old has scored nine goals so far in the French top-flight, earning him a call up to the France U20 squad. The Reims forward is drawing interest from a number of Premier League clubs after missing out on a transfer to Newcastle United in January<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another player mentioned for Wolves is Valencia\u2019s Gon\u00e7alo Guedes<\/a>. The Portugal international is capable of leading the line as a centre-forward or playing out wide as a winger. The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals and has chipped in with six assists in La Liga this season. With only one year remaining on Guedes\u2019 contract, a fee of around \u00a315 million should be enough to bring him to acquire his services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wolves\u2019 Woes in Front of Goal<\/b><\/h3>\n

Despite currently residing in eighth place in the Premier League, Wolves have struggled to score goals this season, managing the fifth lowest number of goals scored in the entire league.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Raul Jimenez<\/a> has struggled to find goals since returning from a fractured skull suffered against Arsenal<\/a> on November 29, 2020. Prior to his injury, the Mexico striker had enjoyed a terrific goal-scoring record in the Premier League, even scoring 17 goals in the 2019\/20 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The club brought in RB Leipzig striker Hwang Hee-Chan<\/a>, initially on a season-long loan, before making the deal permanent for \u00a314 million<\/a>, seemingly to help lighten the load placed on the shoulders of Jimenez. The South-Korean international started strong managing four goals in his first six games but has since tapered off with only one goal in his remaining 19 fixtures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, it looks like Wolves could be dipping into the market again to try and find another goal-scoring threat.<\/span><\/p>\n
