This then means that others may move on to pastures new. One such name is Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, who will leave in the summer as per reports from Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester City Forward Gabriel Jesus Is Set to Leave

Why Is Jesus on His Way Out?

As previously mentioned, the rumours surrounding Erling Haaland are continuing to gain traction. There is already a lot of competition for minutes in the attacking third at the Etihad, something that will only increase if the Dortmund man arrives in Manchester. Haaland is subject to interest from all of Europe’s elite and after missing out on a striker last summer, City will surely be wanting to bring in this superstar.

Gabriel Jesus will leave Man City in the summer, the plan is clear since months as they're working on Haaland deal and contract expires in 2023. 🇧🇷 #MCFC

Arsenal interest is confirmed and serious, as per @jorgenicola @David_Ornstein – but still no bid/direct talks between clubs. pic.twitter.com/akinrtEy7i

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 23, 2022

Gabriel Jesus has been moved from his position as a centre forward with most of his minutes coming on the right-wing this season. He burst onto the scene pretty swiftly when he made the move to England but has since failed to properly kick on. His potential was rumoured to be that of a direct Sergio Aguero replacement but he is yet to live up to that.

They are hardly a club strapped for cash but it still would make more sense for the Citizens to sell Jesus this year as opposed to letting his contract run down and seeing him leave on a free in 12 months’ time. If Haaland is to become a Manchester City forward, he will, alongside Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling, create a truly elite frontline.

Where Will the Manchester City Forward End Up?

The early chatter regarding the future of the Manchester City forward points towards Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Despite being a key cog in the Spaniard’s system this year, Alexandre Lacazette is seemingly more of a temporary fix. Beyond him though, the club boasts a young attack with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, so Jesus would be more of a senior player interestingly enough.

It remains to be seen how well Arteta will be backed this summer financially. It has been said that a striker will be at the fore of the Gunners’ plans when it comes to new signings and Jesus would most likely be a very good fit.

If Gabriel Jesus leaves Manchester City in the summer, he’d have been at the club for five-and-a-half-years.

In that time he’d have won at least nine trophies and scored over 85 goals. That’s some stint for a player who is still only 25. pic.twitter.com/yUmYmmWOdq

— Amos Murphy (@AmosMurphy_) April 22, 2022

At 25, the Manchester City forward still has a lot of years ahead of him at the top level and at Arsenal he would pick up a lot of minutes. The club are currently knocking on the top-four door in the earlier stages of Arteta’s tenure so it could certainly be considered an enticing project.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

The big news surrounding Manchester City currently is regarding Erling Haaland with the Norwegian striker looking close to joining his dad’s former club.
