{"id":612174,"date":"2022-04-20T09:12:28","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T13:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/?p=612174"},"modified":"2022-04-20T09:12:28","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T13:12:28","slug":"manchester-united-scouts-leave-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/04\/20\/manchester-united-scouts-leave-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester United Scouts Leave Club Following Liverpool Embarrassment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leading Manchester United scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout will leave the club following a second embarrassing defeat to Liverpool of the season on Tuesday, April 19.<\/p>\n<p>Lawlor leaves his position as chief scout having been with the club for 16 years and Bout departs from his role as head of global scouting, his tenure at the club stretches eight years.<\/p>\n<p>The exits are seemingly just the start of major changes at Old Trafford with Ajax boss <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/04\/18\/manchester-united-erik-ten-hag\/\" target=\"_self\">Erik ten Hag set to be appointed as manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Leading Manchester United Scouts Leave Their Roles at the Club<\/h2>\n<h3>Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout Exit Manchester United<\/h3>\n<p>As reported by Andy Mitten, of <a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/news\/exclusive-manchester-uniteds-two-leading-scouts-leave-club\/UhiwpchnG9Q6\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Athletic<\/a>, Manchester United released the following statement earlier on Wednesday, April 20: &#8220;Jim Lawlor has decided to step down from his role as chief scout in the summer after 16 years with the club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;During that time, Jim played a key role in the development of multiple trophy-winning Manchester United teams and was an important source of guidance to Sir Alex Ferguson and each of the managers who have followed him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jim leaves the club with our warmest thanks for his significant contribution and our very best wishes for the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite his role of chief scout, former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has suggested Lawlor has been marginalised at the club in recent times:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Not quite sure we\u2019re going to see a revolution.
