Ralf Rangnick has revealed his thoughts on the Manchester United transfer policy, reportedly telling the board that they need to get their act together and recruit to a clear playing style if the club is to return to its former glory, The Telegraph\u2019s James Ducker reports<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking with Sky Sports<\/a> in the build-up to United’s clash against Liverpool, Rangnick reiterated this stance,\u00a0 stating that: \u201c<\/span>I told the board members about what I have experienced so far, and what I think are the important things we have to pay attention to, and where we have to make sure that we maybe get better at.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The German manager revealed that the Red Devils need to re-evaluate their transfer policy if they are to compete with Liverpool<\/a> and Manchester City<\/a> and said: \u201c<\/span>apart from the goalkeeping, we need to make sure that we improve the squad in all areas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ralf Rangnick Clashes With the Board Over Manchester United Transfer Policy<\/b><\/h2>\n

Rangnick on United\u2019s Needs<\/b><\/h3>\n

On the Red Devils’ transfer policy, Rangnick revealed that the club need to invest heavily in recruitment, stating: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>it’s not enough to bring in three or four new players. It will be more, bearing in mind how many players will no longer be here with the contracts running out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With deals expiring for Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani to name but a few, United may need to look at replacing those players in the next transfer window.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Manchester giants invested significantly in the squad last summer under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, bringing in long-time target Jadon Sancho<\/a> alongside Real Madrid<\/a> Centre-Back Raphael Varane, as well as luring United legend Christiano Ronaldo back to the club<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The club brought in Sancho for a reported \u00a373 million in July 2021 and following a slow start has become a regular in the starting lineup in the latter half of the 2021\/22 season. French Centre-Back Varane also cost the club a reported \u00a334 million, demonstrating how the club hasn\u2019t been afraid to spend the money to improve the squad, rather that they haven’t been investing in the right areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

United’s Injury Worries<\/h3>\n

Manchester United are also struggling with injuries to key players at the moment and the United Boss has reportedly called for a review<\/a> to understand the injury situation at the club. Rangnick questioned how Liverpool can have a clean bill of health despite playing more games due to the Champions League, as well as still being in domestic cup competitions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With Fred reportedly set to miss the clash against Liverpool<\/a>, as well as key upcoming games against Arsenal<\/a> and Chelsea<\/a>, and Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw<\/a> and Raphael Varane all side-lined with injuries as well, the club will need to look to others as they continue to push for a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

United will continue their final push for top four against Liverpool on Tuesday, before travelling to an important fixture at the Emirates on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n
