One of the hottest properties in European football, Erling Haaland, has reportedly agreed to join Manchester City<\/a> after countless sides have chased his signature over the last two years.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cErling Haaland understood to have approved Manchester City move and initial personal terms agreed. Still work to do on contract, payment to Dortmund, agent commission etc so not yet closed & will take time,\u201d David Ornstein<\/a> has reported.

Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano tweeted<\/a>, \u201cManchester City are pushing to sign Erling Haaland. They\u2019re making big effort. Direct contacts now ongoing. Pep Guardiola wants him at all costs.\u201d

When questioned today in his press conference ahead of tomorrow\u2019s home game with Brighton and Hove Albion about Erling Haaland, Guardiola said<\/a>, \u201cHaaland news? No comment, no answer.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

What Impact Will Erling Haaland Have on Manchester City<\/h2>\r\n

Manchester City are set to trigger the release clause of roughly \u00a363 million in Erling Haaland\u2019s release clause. He will reportedly earn a similar or better contract to current Man City star man Kevin De Bruyne, which could make the Norwegian the Premier League\u2019s highest-paid player.<\/p>\r\n

Manchester City have been playing without a recognised number 9 for the 2021\/22 season, with their only striker in Gabriel Jesus playing more of a wide, winger-like role rather than a traditional number 9. Haaland will offer them a whole new dimension and will make them an even tougher side to face.

The striker has been the talk of the world since his move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. He has scored 82 goals and provided 23 assists in his 85 games for the German outfit. Haaland has had injury problems this season but has still managed 33 goals in 34 fixtures an impressive return for any player, let alone someone as young and promising as he is.<\/p>\r\n

Destined for Greatness?<\/h3>\r\n

It is always easy to forget that Erling Haaland has a link to Manchester City as his father played for the Citizens between 2000 and 2003. It may just be destiny that Erling follows in his father\u2019s footsteps and plays at the Etihad. It\u2019s hard to imagine that if this move happens there won\u2019t be a whole host of silverware that follows.<\/p>\r\n
