Bayern Munich<\/a> Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kahn has praised Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, calling the Borussia Dortmund marksman<\/a> “an excellent striker and a very interesting player for the future”.<\/p>\n

However, Kahn went on to suggest that the financial package required to sign the player means any possible transfer to the Allianz Arena would be impossible to achieve this summer.<\/p>\n

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn Praises Erling Haaland But Appears to Rule Out a Transfer<\/h2>\n

Haaland is Expected to Leave Borussia Dortmund This Summer<\/h3>\n

Erling Haaland has been a revelation since moving to Borussia Dortmund<\/a> in January 2020. The 21-year-old made a name for himself with former clubs Molde and RB Salzburg, and has continued to hit the ground running in the German Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

To date, Haaland has scored 82 goals in only 85 games for the club. The striker is also a renowned creator of goals, having recorded an impressive 23 assists in the same timeframe.<\/p>\n

Such form has made links between Haaland and Bayern Munich somewhat inevitable, especially given the Bundesliga leaders’ history of signing players from their Dortmund rivals.<\/p>\n

Bayern may find themselves in need of a new striker this summer, with their own prolific forward Robert Lewandowski – famously signed on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 – currently unwilling to sign a new contract with the club.<\/p>\n

However, Oliver Kahn’s comments appear to pour cold water on the prospects of Haaland signing for Bayern Munich, at least for now. He said: “Haaland? I don’t think we would be doing our job properly if we didn’t consider such a young striker. He’s an excellent striker and a very interesting player for the future. But financial dimensions [of a deal] are beyond our imagination.”<\/p>\n

Manchester City in the Frame For Haaland Transfer<\/h3>\n

Earlier this week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed<\/a> that Premier League leaders Manchester City<\/a> are actively working on a deal to sign Haaland this summer.<\/p>\n

City boss Pep Guardiola is said to want to bring Haaland to Etihad Stadium ‘at all costs’, and Bayern Munich’s apparent unwillingness to join the race perhaps leaves the Sky Blues in pole position to sign one of Europe’s most-coveted goalscorers.<\/p>\n

However, with other European giants such as Real Madrid<\/a> also chasing Haaland’s signature, it remains to be seen where the striker will be playing his football next season.<\/p>\n
