Wayne Rooney has opened up about his dream to become the manager of his former club Manchester United in the future.<\/p>\n
Rooney made the comments when speaking at a black tie event in Manchester.\u00a0The Derby County manager also spoke about how he turned down the Everton job.<\/p>\n
Rooney, who was inducted into the \u201cPremier League Hall Of Fame\u201d last week, has spoken about his desire to manage the Red Devils. Speaking to the Sun, Rooney said: \u201cThe whole reason for me going into management is Manchester United.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to be Manchester United manager. I know I am not ready now. But I have to plan everything I do to make sure one day it will happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rooney spent 13 years at Old Trafford. He made 559 appearances and became the club’s all-time record goalscorer finding the back of the net 253 times.<\/p>\n
The 36 year old is confident he will be managing on the biggest stage someday, telling the Sun<\/a>: \u201cI believe I will be a Premier League manager.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite his desire to one day manage in the Premier League, Rooney is still focused on trying to keep Derby County<\/a> in the Championship.<\/p>\n Rooney is currently working miracles at the Rams, who\u2019s financial troubles have led them to having 21 points deducted from them this season.<\/p>\n Amazingly, the former Everton captain has kept his side competitive. Derby are only eight points off safety with seven games to go.<\/p>\n Rooney said: \u201cIt is such a shame what the club is going through because they deserve more and they deserve better. If Derby go down it is highly likely that Rooney will move on.
