Oxford United<\/a> recorded back to back wins this week with victory over Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge United. It was, however, a difficult week for the club as they mourned the passing of U’s legend Joey Beauchamp.<\/p>\n

Another Behind Closed Doors Friendly Win<\/h3>\n

A returning James Henry was on the scoresheet as Oxford United began the week with a 3-1 over a Queens Park Rangers U23 side at the club’s training ground.<\/p>\n

The midfielder hasn’t featured for the U’s since a 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers last month but struck home a penalty against the R’s.<\/p>\n

Gatlin O’Donkor and Leon Chambers-Parillon also scored in the match, which was played in the afternoon before the senior side travelled to Crewe.<\/p>\n

Gritty Win Against the Alex<\/h3>\n

Oxford United recorded back to back wins with a dogged effort against bottom club Crewe. Karl Robinson fielded the same formation and same starting 11 as the one that smashed Charlton Athletic last time out but this was a different story.<\/p>\n

Crewe struck the bar and forced Jack Stevens into a couple of saves while the U’s struggled to find the target. When they did, it came in the shape of deadline day signing Ciaron Brown as the defender smashed home the winner.<\/p>\n

Emotional Win for Oxford United Legend Joey Beauchamp<\/h3>\n

As Oxford gathered at Grenoble Road to pay their respects to club legend Joey Beauchamp, the players also had a job to do on the pitch with Cambridge the visitors.<\/p>\n

A poignant tribute was paid to the 50-year-old ahead of the game but it was former U’s loanee Sam Smith who tore up the script and struck an early goal.<\/p>\n

What was in the script was fellow homegrown player Matty Taylor scoring and he managed that before the break. However, Smith added a second for the visitors shortly after.<\/p>\n

This Oxford team haven’t been phased about falling behind in games this season and with over 10,000 emotional fans backing them, they managed it once again. A brace from Cameron Brannagan either side of Sam Baldock, who watched Beauchamp at the Manor Ground as a fan, made the tributes all the more fitting.<\/p>\n
