Last night saw the eagerly anticipated return of the Europa League<\/a>. There were some cracking games across the competition with some teams faring better than others. Celtic<\/a> may have lost but their Glasgow rivals, Rangers<\/a>, were successful in Dortmund. Borussia Dortmund<\/a> sporting director Michael Zorc was far from pleased with his team\u2019s performance, as per Fabrizio Romano<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Embarrassing Night at Westfalenstadion<\/h3>\n

Even in the absence of Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund v Rangers at Westfalenstadion seemed like a tough game to call. With fifty-five minutes on the clock, the Scots had put four past Gregor Kobel with a strike from Jude Bellingham being the hosts\u2019 only saving grace. Raphael Guerreiro did net a second in the final ten minutes but the damage had already been done.<\/p>\n

The appalling result led to Dortmund director Michael Zorc speaking out on the matter. He said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano: “I am still dismayed, I am at a loss for words. It was an embarrassing, disgraceful performance.”<\/p>\n

The Black and Yellows were certainly one of the favourites for the competition coming into the knockout stages but as is often the case, they are now on course to come up short.<\/p>\n

Marco Rose’s Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This 4-2 drubbing begs the question of Marco Rose\u2019s future. Previous managers such as Lucien Favre have fallen victim to the sack due to poor performances and results both on the continent and domestically too. The inability to match the output of Bayern Munich along with this Europa League exit looming must-have Rose hot under the collar.<\/p>\n

That being said, the Dortmund director has expressed no interest in parting ways with Rose as it stands, he added: “There\u2019s no discussion about Marco Rose.”<\/p>\n

The club still has faith in the man who only took charge in the summer. Next up for Borussia Dortmund, they will face fellow top-four hopefuls Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday before the return trip to Ibrox next Thursday. Whilst it’s a big ask, Guerreiro’s goal may be one that Rangers live to regret with the firepower at Dortmund’s disposal.<\/p>\n
