Newcastle United<\/a>\u00a0have confirmed<\/a> the signing of wide man Matt Targett on a loan deal from Aston Villa<\/a>. Newcastle have been making moves throughout this transfer window, having added a number of talented players to their lineup including Bruno Guimaraes<\/a>. Matt Targett is a left-back naturally who may fill in at left wing-back when needed. Targett will wear the number 13 shirt for Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Premier League Experience<\/h3>\n

One of the major positives for signing a player like Matt Targett is the Premier League experience he brings to the table. Originally coming through Southampton’s academy system he failed to fully break through until a loan spell at Fulham saw Southampton make use of his talents.<\/p>\n

After being promoted Aston Villa bought Targett from Southampton and he has been a mainstay ever since, even playing in every single Premier League game for the team in the 2020\/21 season.\u00a0 In the club’s announcement, manager Eddie Howe mentioned this experience specifically:<\/a><\/p>\n

“He has important Premier League experience and know-how at this level, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to add him to the squad”<\/p>\n

With over a hundred Premier League appearances to his name Matt Targett is a smart signing for Newcastle who should be able to battle his way into the starting lineup and push them to success.<\/p>\n

Newcastle’s Strong Window<\/h3>\n

Matt Targett is another strong signing from Newcastle who made some promising moves in this window. Former Tottenham Hotspur man Kieran Trippier<\/a> was signed from Atletico Madrid, former Burnley marksman Chris Wood joined the team to inject a goalscoring touch to the team, and there was the eye-catching signing of Bruno Guimaraes. Newcastle have added a number of talented players with high-level experience as they aim to battle their way out of the relegation zone this season.<\/p>\n
