Manchester United<\/a>\u2019s Phil Jones turns down a loan move to French side Bordeaux, as reported by The Telegraph’s James Ducker<\/a>. It has been suggested that Jones wasn’t given the guarantees he’d have liked over playing time.<\/p>\n

Not the Right Move<\/h3>\n

The former England<\/a> defender has struggled with injuries and has almost become a forgotten man at Manchester United but Jones still has the belief that he has plenty left to give before hanging up his boots. It has been said by Simon Jones<\/a>, of the Daily Mail, that a number of English clubs have considered signing Jones but would be reluctant to offer more than a loan or pay-as-you-play deal as clubs are not keen to rely on a player with a history of injury problems like his.<\/p>\n

Forgotten Man<\/h3>\n

Jones, 29, returned to action for United in a 1-0 home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> and was the one positive in a shambolic team performance. It was his first appearance for United for 712 days as he replaced Harry Maguire. Jones is now fully fit but does not fit prevalent in interim manager Ralf Rangnick\u2019s plans with Eric Bailly, Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof all ahead of him in the pecking order.<\/p>\n

Versatility<\/h3>\n

Whilst Jones may have opted to decline Bordeaux\u2019s advances, he is a player who has shown versatility in his career having played at center\u00a0back, full back and as a defensive midfielder where he first caught the Old Trafford clubs eye when playing for Blackburn Rovers.<\/a><\/p>\n

What Next for Phil Jones<\/h3>\n

Jones is a player who gives everything on the pitch and it seems clear that he will not take just any move despite being surplus to requirements at Manchester United. He may suit a Championship side or may even stay in the Premier League but wherever he ends up, it seems it will not be in France playing for Bordeaux.<\/p>\n
