Liverpool has confirmed<\/a> the signing of Colombian winger Luis Diaz from FC Porto in a deal worth \u00a337.5 million.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old has signed a contract until 2027 with the Merseyside club. Diaz was Liverpool’s main transfer target in January as they looked to add further competition in the wide areas.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> boss Jurgen Klopp said<\/a>: “I could not be happier that we’ve been able to get this deal done and bring Luis to Liverpool.<\/p>\n

“He is a player who is hungry for success and knows you have to fight to get what you want. He is a fighter, no doubt. He’s a skilful team player who has always the goal in mind.”<\/p>\n

Diaz is currently on international duty with Colombia. He will join the squad next week ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Cardiff City<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lowdown on Colombian Winger<\/h3>\n

Luis Diaz joined FC Porto from Colombian club Atletico Junior in 2019. He quickly became one of the Portuguese side’s key players.<\/p>\n

This season he has scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 18 league games, a very impressive return even considering Porto are currently top of the Primeira Liga.<\/p>\n

He has made over 30 appearances for Colombia and was awarded the golden boot at the 2021 Copa America as joint top goalscorer alongside Lionel Messi.<\/p>\n

Diaz will bring added firepower to Liverpool’s attack. However, he will face a battle to earn regular first-team football with competition coming from the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino.<\/p>\n

The Colombian international\u00a0has electric pace and great dribbling ability and will be a handful for Premier League<\/a> defenders. He looks like the perfect signing for Liverpool and will strengthen their title tilt as they look to hunt down Manchester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n
