Queens Park Rangers have contacted Derby County about signing their captain Tom Lawrence, according to West London Sport<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Derby was put into administration in September 2021 and are facing a dire future if they cannot acquire the funds to ease their financial troubles.<\/p>\n

It is likely that the 28-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, will be available at a cut-down price.<\/p>\n

QPR Pursue Tom Lawrence<\/h2>\n

However, despite QPR’s desire to sign the attacking midfielder, they face challenging opposition to secure his signature. A host of clubs are reportedly pushing to acquire the talented player.<\/p>\n

Lead leaders Fuham and Premier League sides Burnely, Brighton, Newcastle and Wolves are all reportedly interested in Lawrence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Potential Statement Signing<\/h3>\n

If QPR were able to fend off other clubs and sign Tom Lawrence, it would be a massive statement to the rest of the league.<\/p>\n

Rangers manager Mark Warburton wants to bring in another attacking midfielder to boost QPR’s attacking output and perhaps release a bit of pressure off of Ilias Chair’s<\/a> and Chris Willock’s shoulders. Both players have established themselves as two of the best young talents in the league and are crucial to how QPR attacks.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, introducing Lawrence to the collective approach Rangers have already shown this year will improve their chances of either securing an automatic promotion spot or a playoff place. QPR do not have a goalscorer in double digits, yet they sit in fourth in goals scored and fourth in the league.<\/p>\n

Derby’s top goalscorer has so far scored seven and assisted three in a depleted squad which has suffered transfer embargoes and two separate point deductions.<\/p>\n
