As per Sam Wallace of The Telegraph<\/a>, Derby County manager Wayne Rooney and former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard are set for interviews regarding the vacant Everton<\/a> job. This comes after the news of Rafael Benitez\u2019s dismissal following the Toffees\u2019 2-1 loss to Norwich City.<\/a><\/p>\n

Initially, Roberto Martinez seemed to be the favourite, with contact between the Belgium FA and Everton. Martinez\u2019s current employers reportedly blocked the move, according to Jason Burt of The Telegraph<\/a>, \u00a0however – likely to the relief of those at Goodison Park, who have previously paid witness to Martinez\u2019s managerial methods.<\/p>\n

Rooney Has Earned Big Role<\/h3>\n

The job Wayne Rooney is doing at Derby County isn\u2019t spoken about enough. The Manchester United legend couldn\u2019t have been given a harder task than that of a 21-point deduction. Yet, here he is, giving the Rams, who now only sit nine points adrift of safety, a fighting chance. As the off-pitch chaos continues, however, Rooney will need to start thinking more and more about himself and his managerial career.<\/p>\n

At Everton, the current Derby boss would have an ideal project to build on, similar to what Steven Gerrard has at Aston Villa<\/a>. And, from that, the sky is the limit.<\/p>\n

Second Chance for Lampard?<\/h3>\n

Onto Lampard now, the former Chelsea boss hasn\u2019t returned to management since departing the Blues in 2020. But, the Everton job could present the perfect chance for redemption. It won\u2019t be a job full of the overbearing pressures placed on him at Stamford Bridge. Instead, it will be a job that he can develop in. Projects allow that growth.<\/p>\n

The Everton faithful can be difficult to convince, but get them on your side, and you\u2019re on your way to success. The search is still on to fill the vacancy, with more and more options emerging.<\/p>\n
