On a busy day for Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> news, manager Antonio Conte has said that the door is open for Christian Eriksen to return and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has spoken about Tottenham\u2019s transfer priorities being to sign a new centre back, a central midfielder as well as a right-wing-back as the Italian looks to improve his squad.<\/p>\n

Romano Talks Tottenham Transfer Targets<\/h3>\n

According to Romano, the targets that Tottenham are looking at in the January transfer window<\/a> are all around bolstering the defence. Spurs did bring in Cristian Romero from Atalanta<\/a> in the summer transfer window but he has picked up an injury.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast<\/a>, Romano started: “Yes, talking about Tottenham, they will go for a centre back, the priority is a centre back, but let\u2019s also see if they will go for a winger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adama Traore<\/h3>\n

Spurs have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers\u2019 <\/a>midfielder Adama Traore for some time and Romano has said that Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici is particularly keen on the player.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe have had a lot of rumours about Adama Traore, he is super appreciated by Fabio Paratici the Tottenham Sporting Director, but it\u2019s not going to be easy,\u201d<\/p>\n

Conte likes to have a back three with fast wing-backs while at left back, he has Sergio Reguilon. However, at right-back, Emerson Royal has struggled with his final ball and Japhet Tanaganga has not impressed the new Spurs boss which is where Traore might come in.<\/p>\n

What Conte is looking for is strength in depth and the Chelsea<\/a> defeat showed up the startling lack of that with Conte admitting the club are a long way behind their London rivals.<\/p>\n

Christian Eriksen<\/h3>\n

Eriksen was a fan favourite at Tottenham and Conte has set tongues wagging by claiming that the door is always open for the Dane to return to Spurs. Eriksen had his contract terminated at Inter Milan<\/a> following the heart problems that led to him being fitted with a pacemaker after collapsing at Euro 2020.<\/p>\n

When asked about Eriksen in a press conference, talking to ESPN, Conte said: “We are talking about a really important player, but especially a top man, and what happened [last] summer was not good for the people that work with him and the people that know him.<\/p>\n

“I was scared at that moment and now to see him again ready to play football is great news, and I think for Christian the door is always open.”<\/p>\n
