According Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, Wolfsburg are in advanced negotiations to sign Ricardo Pepi. The young USMNT star has impressed at FC Dallas and is set for a Bundesliga move.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the German club is in advanced negotiations with the Texan club, stating: \u201cWolfsburg are pushing to sign Ricardo Pepi. Bundesliga is the most likely destination for the USMNT talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The young striker has been linked<\/a> to many clubs, including Wolves<\/a> and his “dream club” Real Madrid. Pepi was named MLS Young Player Of The Year<\/a> in 2021 and is set to be the next great MLS<\/a> export after Alphonso Davies, Gianluca Busio, and Brendon Aaronson. The list has grown over previous years due to MLS’ much improved quality of football.<\/p>\n

Wolfsburg’s Bid Impresses FC Dallas<\/h3>\n

According to Tom Bogert<\/a>, a “big bid arrived for Ricardo Pepi and the tone seems to be softening from FC Dallas, who had been determined to keep him in 2022.”<\/p>\n

If an agreement is met between the two clubs, Pepi is set to sign a contract until 2026 with the German club. Wolfsburg’s manager Florian Kohfeldt previously coached fellow American Josh Sargent whilst at Werder Bremen.<\/p>\n

FC Dallas are no strangers to European exports as Pepi would follow an impressive list of players, including Bryan Reynolds (Roma), Tanner Tessmann (Venezia), Reggie Cannon (Boavista), Chris Richards ( TSG Hoffenheim on loan from Bayern Munich), and Carlos Gruezo (FC Augsburg).<\/p>\n

FC Dallas’ strong relationship with the Bundesliga could be pivotal in Pepi’s move.<\/p>\n

Ricardo Pepi scored 13 goals and notched two assists in 31 MLS games last season. He also became the youngest MLS player ever to score a hattrick<\/a> when they thrashed LA Galaxy 4-0. His impressive domestic form was replicated on the international stage as he scored three goals in seven games for the USMNT.<\/p>\n

Time will tell whether Pepi succeeds in Germany, however he is sure to have quality mentoring from Dutch veteran Wout Weghorst.<\/p>\n
