According to Sam Lee of The Athletic,<\/a> Manchester City<\/a> and Barcelona<\/a> are set to finalise a deal worth \u00a346 million to take Ferran Torres back to Spain. The forward will be Xavi\u2019s first signing in charge, and will instantly become one of the main men at the Nou Camp. City, meanwhile, will be doubling the money they paid for the Spaniard last summer – seemingly making the deal a win-win.<\/p>\n

According to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, Torres could be in Barcelona as soon as tomorrow to complete a medical and sign the contract, with a joint-statement set to be released by Barcelona and Manchester City.<\/p>\n

The deal comes as a shock considering Barcelona\u2019s financial situation – especially with the deal potentially reaching \u00a350 million with add-ons. But those at the top clearly felt the need to make it happen, and clearly found the necessary funds for it.<\/p>\n

From Dispensable at Manchester City to Invaluable at Barcelona<\/h3>\n

At Manchester City, Ferran Torres is one of many stars. You take him out, and another player of equal talent will step in. At Barcelona, however, which is where we are likely to see Torres, he will be the main man; he will arrive a poster boy for the present and future of the club with the chance to become a hero. And that idea will attract him.<\/p>\n

In a way, the transfer is very similar to Leroy Sane\u2019s to Bayern Munich in 2019. Many were shocked by it, and believed that Sane was one of the best players at Manchester City and very much part of Pep Guardiola\u2019s plans. Like Torres, however, Sane\u2019s talent was almost swallowed up by the amount of ability around him, and he was never able to stand out. At Bayern, his ability couldn\u2019t be clearer than it is right now. And Torres will hope to replicate that rise.<\/p>\n
