Swansea City<\/a> captain Matt Grimes has signed a new long-term deal with the Welsh club. The 26-year-old will stay at the Liberty Stadium until 2025.<\/p>\n

Matt Grimes Commits Future to Swansea City<\/h2>\n

Captain Dependable<\/h3>\n

Despite concerns over a new deal, Swansea skipper Matt Grimes has finally committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old, who joined the Swans in 2015 from Exeter City, has played every minute of the Championship season so far and has now reached 175 appearances for the club.<\/p>\n

Having been linked with a move to Fulham<\/a> in the summer as the midfielder entered the final year of his contract, both the club and player were relieved to get the deal done.<\/p>\n

What Matt Grimes Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the club’s official website<\/a>, Grimes said: “I am buzzing, it is a fantastic project here and everyone knows how much I love the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI am really happy, and I am so pleased to get it over the line.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way in which we are playing has been massive. From the moment the new manager came in I knew I would take to his style straight away and I am enjoying my football now, probably more so than I have any other year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt is such a big part of a footballer\u2019s life to be enjoying your football and the football you play.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI know it sounds silly, but it has been a huge factor in me staying and I couldn\u2019t be happier. The club have appointed a fantastic manager in Russell Martin, and we are on the way to doing something really special here, I believe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the club with all my heart, my partner loves it here and my daughter was born here, so it is the perfect place for me.”<\/p>\n

Moving Up the Table<\/h3>\n

Now, Grimes and his Swansea teammates will be looking to move up the Championship table. The Welsh club currently sit in 12th position with six wins, five draws and six losses.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin’s side lost 4-0 against Bournemouth before the international break and will be looking to bounce back against Blackpool.<\/p>\n
