Even some of the players signed for the first-team had previously been at United\u2019s centre of excellence &#8211; like <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/11\/16\/jordan-nobbs-england-women-squad\/\" target=\"_self\">England<\/a> international\u00a0Ella Toone, for example.<\/p>\n<p>The style of football and production of young talent is something United have been keen to replicate.<\/p>\n<p>United signed Welsh midfielder Carrie Jones when she was just 16, identifying her as a future star. She has incredible maturity for an 18-year-old and it really shows in the way she plays and approaches her game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarrie is another example of the importance of the academy system in bringing young players through, she\u2019s adapted so well to being part of the first-team and is such a bright prospect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI\u2019m really happy Carrie has committed her future to the club, and we will keep working closely with her, on and off the pitch, to ensure that her talent continues to shine through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones played a starring role in United\u2019s derby win over City on Wednesday night.
