Real Madrid<\/a> are planning to offer a contract extension to Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, Fabrizio Romano<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

This extension is likely to be for one more season. A deal has not yet been done but the interest is definitely there from the Real Madrid board. This will be discussed internally over the new few weeks or months.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid and Luke Modric a Great Fit From the Start<\/h3>\n

The world knows of Real Madrid’s prominence in football. Much of this over the last few years has been directly influenced by Modric. He’s not the most imposing athlete but that doesn’t seem to matter, as Modric is a complete magician with the ball at his feet. More than that, Modric is a genius at reading the game.<\/p>\n

To date, Modric has won 17 different titles in nine seasons in Madrid. This list includes four extremely impressive Champions League<\/a> trophies, two La Liga titles, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey.<\/p>\n

After his fantastic 2017\/18 season with Real Madrid, and guiding Croatia to the final of the 2018 World Cup, Modric was also awarded the 2018 Ballon d’Or.<\/p>\n

He’s still playing at a high level at 36-years-old. Due to his age but continued performances, a one-year extension makes total sense. Real Madrid are currently second in the La Liga table. They’re also on top of Champions League Group D with a clear path to the round of 16. The team aren’t showing signs of slowing down and much of this is due to how crucial Modric is.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid Have Best of Both Worlds With World-Class Experience and Youthful Promise<\/h3>\n

The team still has strong veteran midfielders such as Toni Kroos and Casemiro<\/a>. Their youth in the midfield is impressive as well. This includes Ernesto Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga<\/a>, among others. Modric is great alongside them but will also play a large role in helping those more youthful names.<\/p>\n
