In what is proving to be an incredible week from his perspective, Max Kilman has extended his contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> until 2026. The news comes just four days after the defender scored his first Premier League goal as Wolves defeated Everton<\/a> 2-1.<\/p>\n

At 24, Kilman\u2019s prime is fast approaching, and everyone in the Premier League can tell. The Wolves centre-back is becoming more and more of a permanent feature in Bruno Lage\u2019s energetic side. And it won\u2019t be too long before he is recognised as a key player within the Midland club\u2019s ranks.<\/p>\n

Clearly delighted to have rewarded Kilman with a new contract, technical director Scott Sellars said<\/a>: \u201cOur first focus was to reward Max for what he\u2019s doing on the pitch. He came into the Academy late on in his development, but he\u2019s really kicked on and it\u2019s important we reward players for their success, and also retain our talents.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we brought Max in, he had potential. He had technical and physical ability, and while he was on trial, we could see he was a great kid, so we thought he could develop, but where he\u2019s got to is credit to him, his mentality and desire to improve. He\u2019s been very patient in that process, and his development has been fantastic, so it\u2019s something we\u2019re all very proud of.<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, you bring players through, and the aim is to get them into the first-team, but to get there as a young boy from non-league football, into a team full of internationals, shows his focus and work ethic. We hope other young players can see what Max has done, and it shows there\u2019s talent outside of academies, so we\u2019re always searching for the next Max.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis season he\u2019s gaining in confidence each game. Previously, he came in and out of the team, but never let the team down, and he\u2019s consistently starting now. He\u2019s growing each game and topped it off on Monday by getting his first goal, which is enormous credit to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kilman will now look to push on and become a crucial part of Wolves\u2019 pursuit of a European place this season.<\/p>\n
