The Premier League<\/a> football vaccine against COVID-19<\/a> uptake has increased, the Premier League has confirmed<\/a> (via BBC Sport).<\/p>\n

68% of players are said to have received two doses, with 81% having received the first dose.<\/p>\n

Positive Response to Criticism at Lack of Vaccinated Players in Recent Months<\/h3>\n

These numbers suggest a large number of Premier League footballers have decided to get vaccinated against COVID-19.<\/p>\n

In recent months, criticism has been aimed at those in the top flight for not bothering or deciding against getting vaccinated, despite their highly-regarded status.<\/p>\n

Away from the Premier League, West Bromwich Albion<\/a> forward Callum Robinson recently admitted that he has not been vaccinated against COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Earlier in October, in quotes carried by BBC Sport<\/a>, Robinson said: “I haven’t been vaccinated, no. That’s my choice at this moment in time,” Robinson replied when questioned on the subject.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s obviously annoying that I’ve caught it twice but I haven’t been vaccinated. Further down the line I could change my mind and want to do it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

His comments sparked discussion but it must be noted that he did not rule out getting vaccinated in the future.<\/p>\n

As of September, 49% of players were double jabbed. The Premier League’s latest update reveals a 19% increase on that.<\/p>\n

Over four in five Premier League players have received one dose of the vaccine too.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Van-Tam Positive on the Situation<\/h3>\n

The UK’s deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam has spoken positively to BBC Sport about the news, he said: “This latest data shows the tide is very clearly turning.<\/p>\n

“It shows that people are listening to sensible messages from well-informed health professionals. That is where you get the good advice from, you don’t get it from the internet, or Instagram or Facebook.<\/p>\n

“It is brilliant and is a real positive change.”<\/p>\n

Van-Tam has been working with the Premier League to ensure players are provided with the correct information<\/a> about the COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n
