As things stand, Dybala’s deal is close to completion, with the forward set to extend until 2025.

The new deal for Dybala comes as a slight surprise. He definitely has the talent, that has never been in question, but, whether or not he has the injury-free fitness or desire to lead the Juventus line, is another thing in its entirety. Such is the crisis within the Italian giants’ ranks right now, too, you have to question whether it is worth rinsing and repeating the same, recently unsuccessful squad time and time again.

Then there’s the case of Cuadrado, who is 33 and set to sign until June of 2023. It looks a deal almost Barcelona-esque, and that is far from a good thing these days. Again, the question is asked, and far more seriously than the Dybala situation, is the deal worth it?

Juan Cuadrado Contract Talks to Take Place After Paulo Dybala Deal is Agreed

Juventus Cannot Afford to Get Business Wrong

When in crisis mode, the worst thing you can do is get your business wrong, whether that be contract renewals or splashing out over £100 million on Philippe Coutinho. Juventus are in a position where they simply cannot afford another wrong turn. They’re in danger of being swept behind the Inter and AC Milan’s once more – to create a reverse of the more modern-history, and a return to the ‘good’ old days.

Dybala’s deal can be justified. He is a forward supposedly in his prime; he has plenty of problems to overcome, yes, but time is on his side. Cuadrado, however, represents needless business, needless money spent; money that could be splashed out on a younger, maybe even better player.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

As per Fabrizio Romano, Juventus will make negotiating a new contract with Juan Cuadrado the priority once they have completed the agreement to extend Paulo Dybala’s deal.
