The last two years have seen the Hornets hire four managers on a permanent basis, and yet not one of them has managed to reach even ten months in the job. In what seems bi-annual event, the Hertfordshire side are once again on the hunt for a new boss having parted company with Xisco Muñoz, and this time they may be able to attract a former Premier League winner.

New Watford Manager Search Underway

Strange Decision Makes More Sense Than One Would Initially Think

If this were any other club, sacking the manager who achieved promotion back to the top flight of English football and is now sitting in a comfortable 14th would be a shock. But with Watford, it was almost predictable.

However, there could be more of a method to this apparent madness than immediately meets the eye.

While the results achieved so far are consistent with what would be expected from a low-mid table side, fans have been unhappy with the style of play under Muñoz, with many of their performances so far this season having been difficult to watch.

It seems many Watford fans are ready to potentially sacrifice results for a more entertaining brand of football. That said, it is possible for a side with a poor squad by Premier League standards to win points while playing good football, and one managerial candidate whom the Hornets are considering may well be able to provide that.

Watford Considering Impressive Move

The Yellow Army have reportedly already contacted Claudio Ranieri about becoming their next manager.

The Italian is famous for his masterstroke with Leicester City, taking them from a team on the brink of relegation to Premier League champions in just one season.

While Watford won’t expect this much from the 69-year-old should he move to Vicarage Road, they would hope for survival in the top-flight of English football, doing so by playing good football.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

The search for a new Watford manager has commenced once again.
