Oxford United<\/a> will continue to search for an away win this season after a 3-1 loss at AFC Wimbledon. The U’s also ended the transfer window with two new arrivals alongside keeping hold of all their key players.<\/p>\n

Oxford United Weekly Round-Up: Good Deadline Day But Another Away Defeat<\/h2>\n

Transfer Deadline Day<\/h3>\n

It was a relatively quiet transfer deadline day for the U’s with the club having done most of their business early. On Monday, Barnsley midfielder Herbie Kane arrived at Grenoble Road on a season-long loan before the U’s signed Fulham U23 midfielder Ben Davis on a two-year deal.<\/p>\n

The arrival of two new midfielders sparked fears of a potential exit for Cameron Brannagan, particularly after the club rejected a bid from Blackpool on Monday<\/a>. However, Brannagan stayed, leaving the U’s in a strong position heading into September.<\/p>\n

Derick Osei Yaw Departs Oxford United<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday, Oxford announced the release of striker Derick Osei Yaw by mutual consent. The Frenchman joined the club last summer<\/a> and scored three times from ten outings before being loaned out to Walsall<\/a> on deadline day in the January transfer window.<\/p>\n

However, it was clear that the forward wasn’t part of Karl Robinson’s plans and will now search for a new club.<\/p>\n

McGuane Ruled Out Until October<\/h3>\n

On Friday, Oxford were dealt another injury blow with Marcus McGuane being sidelined for up to a month with a thigh injury.<\/p>\n

The former Nottingham Forest man picked up a similar injury while on loan last season during a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers and missed the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Because of this, the U’s are taking caution and won’t rush the 22-year-old, who has played four times this season, back into action.<\/p>\n

Defeat Against the Dons<\/h3>\n

A search for an away win for Oxford continues as the U’s lost 3-1 on the road against AFC Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

Robinson’s side took the lead at the end of a first half in which they had dominated, but three goals (two from set-pieces) for the hosts put the game beyond doubt for Oxford.<\/p>\n

It is becoming a worrying trend. Oxford have taken the lead in all of their league games this season but have picked up just one point from nine on their travels.<\/p>\n
