Liverpool<\/a> defender Nat Phillips has officially put pen to paper on a new deal at the club, signing until 2025. The news comes as quite the surprise, when considering Liverpool\u2019s willingness to sell the defender is the right offer comes in. Nonetheless, after stepping up last season, the Reds have rewarded the defender with a new deal.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s increasingly unlikely that Phillips will get any opportunities within the current Liverpool squad. With every centre-back fit, Jurgen Klopp has Virgil van Dijk, Joe Matip, Joe Gomez and new man Ibrahima Konate to choose from.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

After signing the deal, Nat Phillips told the Liverpool website:<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cObviously after last year, it\u2019s really nice to get that reward from the club. I\u2019m happy to be sticking around and being available if the club need to call on me again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited for the next chapter and just to see what that brings.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is nice that the club has shown me that recognition and hopefully I can bring more of the same with whatever opportunities come my way.<\/p>\n

Over the off-season I had a bit of time to reflect on what had happened throughout the season, how it ended and to be proud of that.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut like I\u2019ve said in previous interviews, you don\u2019t want to dwell on that too much and you want to look forward and see if you can continue to push in a positive direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously it was a dramatic change, no-one saw it coming, I didn\u2019t see it coming \u2013 the circumstances that unfolded whereby I ended up playing regularly for Liverpool\u2019s first team.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor anybody playing for Liverpool\u2019s first team, that is going to be life-changing. For me it\u2019s the same. Obviously it\u2019s brought about this opportunity as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
