Kenny Jackett watched his Leyton Orient breeze to a 3-0 win against Exeter City this past weekend. The newly-appointed manager picked up his first win as O’s manager in their first home league game of the season.<\/p>\n
After a 1-1 draw away to Salford City on the opening day and a penalty shoot-out defeat to Queens Park Rangers in the Carabao Cup, Leyton Orient picked up their first win of the season at the weekend.<\/p>\n
The O’s stormed to a 3-0 win against Exeter City, with Aaron Drinan, Omar Beckles and Theo Archibald all on the scoresheet. All three of the club’s summer signings have made an instant impact since arriving at Brisbane Road, with Drinan also finding the net against QPR.<\/p>\n
However, it was a day to forget for Exeter. Matt Jay saw his penalty saved by O’s keeper Lawrence Vigouroux, and as if that was not bad enough, Jonathan Grounds saw red after a second bookable offence.<\/p>\n
The trio of Drinan, Beckles and Archibald have made an instant an instant, positive impact for the O’s in seemingly no time.<\/p>\n
Drinan scored his second in as many games after netting in the League Cup match, which they went onto lose on penalties. The 23-year-old opened the scoring for Orient against Exeter.<\/p>\n
Beckles scored his second league goal in as many league games. The former Crewe Alexandra defender scored his first against Salford City on the opening day. Additionally, he put in a solid display defensively, as he seems to be a wonderful bit of business so far for manager Kenny Jackett.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Archibald scored his first goal for Orient. His goal capped off a hardworking and determined performance from the on-loan Lincoln City player.<\/p>\n
After two league games, Orient have four points on the board. This is a solid start for the O’s, one which Jackett can be pleased with.<\/p>\n
Falling just short of the play-offs last season, they will be hoping to make the top seven this season. Beating Exeter, likely contenders for the play-offs or thereabouts, is a great statement of intent.<\/p>\n
With a new era now in full swing at Brisbane Road, and with the experience of Kenny Jackett, perhaps this is the season Orient can fight for a return to the third-tier of English football. A six-year, long-awaited return would be golden for a club that has seen its fair share of struggles in recent years.<\/p>\n
