Crystal Palace<\/a> have confirmed the departure of Scott Dann after a seven-year stay at Selhurst Park. The centre-back leaves the south London side following the expiration of his contract.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that Palace were keen to offer Dann a new short-term contract<\/a>, but the defender opted against signing it to seek pastures new.<\/p>\n

An Excellent Servant of the Club<\/h3>\n

Dann, 34, played a crucial role in ensuring the retention of Palace\u2019s Premier League status in the last few seasons. He joined Palace in January 2014 from Blackburn Rovers<\/a> and went on to make 181 appearances for the Eagles<\/a>, scoring on 16 occasions.<\/p>\n

He was named the club\u2019s Player of the Season in 2014\/15<\/a>, and the Players\u2019 Player of the Season in the following campaign.<\/p>\n

The veteran central defender also played a part in Palace\u2019s run to the FA Cup final in 2016, which ultimately culminated in a narrow 2-1 defeat in extra time<\/a> to Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his departure, Dann told the club\u2019s website<\/a>: \u201cI want to put on record my thanks to the managers, teammates, and backroom staff I\u2019ve worked with during these enjoyable seven years at the club. I feel like I\u2019ve gone through everything you can as a footballer in this time, and I am proud to have served and captained Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also want to take this opportunity to thank the Palace fans who\u2019ve been incredible from the moment I joined. This has been a chapter of my career that I\u2019ll never forget, and I wish the team and the club all the best for the coming season and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Palace chairman Steve Parish added<\/a>: \u201cScott has been a magnificent player and club servant since 2014, and I\u2019d like to personally thank him for his immense contribution and his professionalism over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cScott was a great leader on the pitch and served the club as captain during his time with us. He leaves with the utmost respect of everyone at the club \u2013 and we wish him well for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
