The search for a back-up keeper continues in North London as Arsenal<\/a> fail to agree fee for Aaron Ramsdale of Sheffield United<\/a>. According to The Athletic<\/a> and Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, the two clubs are still some way away from settling on a price for the young English goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale Move Breaks Down<\/h2>\n

Talks Stall Between the Clubs<\/h3>\n

It is quite clear that Arsenal<\/a> manager Mikel Arteta rates Aaron Ramsdale and wants him in his squad. In fact, Arsenal have apparently had two bids rejected this summer already. However, Sheffield United refused to budge from their valuation of Ramsdale on both of those occasions.<\/p>\n

The clubs met<\/a> once again on Wednesday to try and find a solution.\u00a0 The 23-year-old goalkeeper was even left out of the Sheffield United squad for their 1-0 EFL Cup win over Carlisle United. However, it seems the clubs have failed to find an agreement. The Blades do not want to lose their player of the season from last term on a lower fee than their valuation.<\/p>\n

They bought Ramsdale for \u00a318.5 million only last season from Bournemouth<\/a>. Reports have suggested that the Yorkshire side are looking for a fee close to \u00a335 million. That is not something the Gunners are willing to pay, instead trying to do a deal for a fee of around \u00a320 million. Ramsdale is apparently keen to leave even though he might have to play second fiddle to Bernd Leno.<\/p>\n

What Now for Arsenal?<\/h3>\n

Arsenal badly need a goalkeeper to provide backup for Bernd Leno. They currently have Alex Runarsson and academy graduate Arthur Okonkwo as options in that department. Runarsson did not look good enough to play in the Premier League last season whereas Okonkwo is a newcomer. So, none of those options look good enough for a club of the stature of Arsenal. They need another option and fast. With the Ramsdale deal looking unlikely now, Arsenal might have to consider other goalkeepers. However, things could still change in the coming days.<\/p>\n
