Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has confirmed that Juventus<\/a> player Merih Demiral\u00a0has passed his medical with Atalanta and will now join the club on loan with an option to buy included as part of the deal.<\/p>\n

With Cristian Romero heading out of the exit door<\/a> at Atalanta with a deal all but done with Tottenham Hotspur, the club have been quick to reenforce the defence with the signing of Juventus defender Demiral on an initial loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent.<\/p>\n

Romano reports the deal as being worth around \u20ac31 million with the first \u20ac3 million being paid upfront, with \u20ac28 million due in the summer of 2022, should Atalanta take the option to make the move permanent.<\/p>\n

Demiral is said to have been unhappy at the lack of playing time he got in the 2020\/21 season and this led to Juventus placing the player on the transfer market. Demiral only started ten games in Serie A and made just 15 appearances throughout the last campaign. Atalanta moved quickly once they knew they were losing the battle to keep Romero and wanted to replace him with the young Turkish player.<\/p>\n

Domino Effect<\/h3>\n

Romero had joined Atalanta from Juventus and now Demiral seems to be following the same route, which could set off a domino effect with Juventus looking to strengthen with money from player sales.<\/p>\n

Juventus hope that the initial loan fee will be able to to be used to finally secure deals for the likes of Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli,<\/a>who Juventus have been linked with throughout the summer following his impressive performances during Italy\u2019s Euro 2020 winning campaign.<\/p>\n

Whoever the Italian club bring in this summer, they must ensure they get it right. If they get it wrong, then Inter Milan will be in prime position to win back-to-back Scudetto\u2019s.<\/p>\n
