AC Milan<\/a> midfielder Franck Kessi\u00e9 has told Gazzetta dello Sport<\/a> he wants to stay at the club for the duration of his playing career. The Ivory Coast international’s comments will come as a welcome boost to his club, with the pair\u00a0in advanced talks over an extension to the player’s contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Kessi\u00e9, who is currently on international duty at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, has been an AC Milan player since July 2017. The 24-year-old initially joined the club on loan from Atalanta<\/a>, but made the transfer permanent in the summer transfer window of 2019.<\/p>\n

Midfielder’s Value Has Soared Since Joining the Club<\/h3>\n

Kessi\u00e9 was a little-known prospect in Italian football when he made his Serie A debut for former club Atalanta in the 2016\/17 season. His impressive performances for the club since then brought him to the attention of AC Milan, who were able to sign the midfielder permanently in 2019 following a two-year loan spell.<\/p>\n

Kessi\u00e9 has been a permanent fixture in the Milan team since moving to the club. In his first season for the Rossoneri<\/em>, the central midfielder made 54 appearances across all competitions. Perhaps the most productive season of Kessi\u00e9’s career came in the most recent campaign, when the player scored 14 goals and provided six assists in his 50 games.<\/p>\n

News of Kessi\u00e9’s commitment to the club and contract negotiations will delight AC Milan fans, who have watched the Ivorian play his part in their club edging back towards the summit of domestic and European football. In the 2020\/21 season, the\u00a0Rossoneri<\/em> finished second in Serie A and secured a return to the Champions League.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Gazzette dello Sport, Franck Kessi\u00e9 spoke of his pride at playing for AC Milan, and said he harbours no intention of ever leaving, either now or in the future.<\/p>\n

Kessi\u00e9 said: “I want to stay at AC Milan forever. I’m proud of this club and I’m not planning to leave AC Milan, absolutely.”<\/p>\n

The midfielder’s current contract is set to expire in 12 months’ time, but his new deal is expected to be completed soon after his involvement in the Olympics.<\/p>\n
