Queens Park Rangers\u2019 assistant manager John Eustace in frame for the vacant Swansea City <\/a>manager role according walesonline.co.uk<\/a>\u00a0following the surprise departure of former manager Steve Cooper on Wednesday evening. Eustace was in the frame for the top job two years ago but missed out to Cooper, who replaced then Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> bound Graham Potter.<\/p>\n

Eustace played for a number of teams in his playing career including Derby County<\/a>, Stoke City<\/a> and Watford<\/a> and started his foray into management at Kidderminster Harriers in 2016. He went on to join Steve McClaren\u2019s coaching staff at QPR and also worked with him at Derby. His coaching style gained admirers when he helped to keep QPR in the championship at the end of the 18\/19 season when he was caretaker manager.<\/p>\n

Frank Lampard has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea<\/a> and former Bournemouth<\/a> manager Eddie Howe is linked with most vacancies when they appear, Celtic being the most recent but talks over that role failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion meaning Howe remains out of work.<\/p>\n

Both Lampard and Howe are known to be keen to work with young talent and that would certainly fit the ethos that has been instilled at the Liberty Stadium with Eustace also fitting that profile.<\/p>\n

With the Championship season starting in just a few weeks on August 7, Swansea have been left with little time to appoint a new manager as they look to recover from the heartbreak of play-off defeat last season and try to earn promotion back to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Whoever the next manager is, Swansea must get it right or risk slipping into mid-table mediocracy in the Championship. They have the tools needed for promotion, it\u2019s just about finding a suitable manager to use them.<\/p>\n
