According to Birmingham Live,<\/a> Saudi side Al-Hilal have lodged a bid worth \u20ac7 million for West Bromwich Albion winger Matheus Pereira. The winger has previously been linked with a move to Premier League sides Aston Villa,<\/a> Leeds United,<\/a> Leicester City<\/a> and West Ham United<\/a>, meaning a move out of the country is unlikely this summer.<\/p>\n

Considering West Brom paid over \u00a38 million for Pereira in 2019, Al-Hilal\u2019s bid of just \u20ac7 million will likely be turned away by those at the Hawthorns. The player himself will also be eager to make a Premier League return this summer having impressed so much last season. He was one of the standout players for West Brom and has all the hallmarks of a top player.<\/p>\n

Pereira\u2019s ability is unquestionably impressive enough for the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham, where he could gain starting places. A move to Leicester would likely result in a place on the bench, but it would present a good opportunity to feature in the Europa League. Either way, it seems a move to Al-Hilal is the least attractive option.<\/p>\n

Scoring 12 goals and registering a further six assists takes some doing in a relegated side. But Matheus Pereira did exactly that for West Brom last season. It was a campaign worthy of Premier League survival and not the ultimate relegation in which the winger was eventually part of. As a collective, it was a disappointing season for the Baggies. On a personal note, however, it was a campaign in which Pereira proved a point to potential future employers.<\/p>\n

At times, it was as if the goals and assists were acting as a marketing strategy to attract clubs. And, now, in the summer transfer window, it\u2019s fair to say that if it was a marketing plot, it more than worked.<\/p>\n
