Bournemouth<\/a> defender Adam Smith has signed a new two-year deal with the club. The 30-year-old has been a key player for the Cherries as they secured promotion to the Premier League and established themselves as a top-flight club.<\/p>\n

The former Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> full-back has played a valuable role during his time at Bournemouth. Smith, who came through the ranks at White Hart Lane, spent time on loan at several clubs, including Bournemouth, before making the move to the Vitality Stadium on a permanent basis in 2014.<\/p>\n

Since, the 30-year-old has made 284 appearances, scoring six goals and adding an impressive 25 assists. He played a part in the promotion-winning team in the 2014\/15 season and was vital for Eddie Howe in the five seasons the Cherries spent in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0afcb.co.uk<\/a>, Smith said: “I spoke with my agent and my family about what was best for me, it was a massive decision because I\u2019ve been here a long time.<\/p>\n

“The thing that did it for me was Scott Parker and Matt Wells who I know from Spurs, Rob Burch as well. It just shows how much the owner and the club want to get back in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

“Actions speak louder than words and that told me the whole story.”<\/p>\n

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake added: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that Adam has committed his future to the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is proven at the highest level and has been a key part of the squad throughout the past seven-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdam shares the same ambitions as everyone here; to help us get back to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Adam Smith Extension Shows Stability From New Manager Scott Parker<\/h3>\n

At Fulham<\/a>, Scott Parker spent over \u00a3100 million in bringing fresh faces through the doors in the hope of remaining in the Premier League. However, at Bournemouth, the former England midfielder has so far been shrewd in the transfer market.<\/p>\n

To date, his only addition has been Emiliano Marcondes, and he arrived on a free transfer from newly-promoted Premier League side, Brentford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Parker is looking to keep hold of his key players, and Adam Smith is certainly one of them. His extension is a sign of stability from the new Cherries boss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
