After 171 appearances, 22 goals and helping Leeds United return to the Premier League after 16 years, Alioski has now left the club after failing to agree terms on a new contract, Leeds United confirmed.<\/a><\/p>\n

The North Macedonian international became a fan favourite with his character and was known for his antics where he would photo bomb in the players tunnel on a regular basis. Rarely seen without a smile on his face, he will be a much missed presence at Elland Road.<\/p>\n

A statement on the clubs\u2019 official website<\/a> confirmed that a new contract offer was made but no agreement could be reached: \u201cWhilst the club made offers for Gjanni to stay, we have been unable to reach an agreement with his representatives and his existing contract expired last week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director of Football Praises Alioski Contribution<\/h3>\n

Victor Orta, Leeds United\u2019 director of football offered praise for the player, saying: \u201cI knew Gjanni was going to be special the moment he walked into the building. The emotion I saw in his face and the face of his parents when he signed his contract here at Elland Road was a beautiful moment and I was sure he was going to give everything for Leeds United.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alioski played in 36 games for Leeds on their return to the Premier League, scoring two goals as the club ended in ninth position under the guidance of manager Marco Bielsa.<\/p>\n

Alisoki has not yet secured a move to a new club but representatives will be seeking his next move when possible.<\/p>\n

Orta finished his statement by thanking Alioski for his endeavours for Leeds saying:\u00a0\u201cWe thank Gjanni for all of his efforts and we wish him every success for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
