Fernandes’ output in Portugal replicated that of incredible numbers for a midfielder and he has only continued to deliver to that high standard.<\/p>\n

However, after playing in Portugal’s first two group stage games, Fernandes has dropped by coach Fernando Santos against France and remained out of the starting eleven for the Belgium game, which would be Portugal’s last in the competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fernandes was tiring toward the end of the 2020\/21 campaign having featured in a lot of games during his 18 months at United. Though that’s a possible excuse, he has failed to replicate the form he possesses at club level when representing his country, scoring just four goals in 33 appearances.<\/p>\n
