According to\u00a0<\/span>Fabrizio Romano<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>AC Milan<\/span><\/a>\u00a0are finalising a deal with\u00a0<\/span>Real Madrid<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for the return of Brahim Diaz. The Spaniard is set to return on a loan with an option to buy deal. The option for Milan at the conclusion of next season is set at \u20ac25 million. The catch, however, is that Madrid will have a potential buyback clause in the future for \u20ac30-31 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Potential to Start for Brahim Diaz<\/span><\/h3>\n

With Hakan Calhanoglu’s official departure from Milan,<\/a> there may be potential for Diaz to emerge as Milan’s new starting attacking midfielder.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diaz excelled towards the end of the season, most notably with an impressive showing in a win versus Juventus. The Spaniard is already experienced with the club and showed the utmost passion when the\u00a0<\/span>Rossoneri\u00a0<\/span><\/em>qualified for the Champions League.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last season he scored four goals and provided four assists in Serie A. In Europa League, Diaz scored three goals in eight appearances. The Spaniard is clearly a special talent. He is also just 21-years-old, giving him plenty of time to improve.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diaz’s age fits well within Milan’s timeline. The team is opting for younger players to build on, such as Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Davide Calabria, Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie, and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

His dribbling, creativity, and knack for scoring special goals are going to be gladly welcomed once again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Real Madrid’s Option<\/span><\/h3>\n

The buyback option for Real Madrid dampens the deal to a certain degree. Diaz holds the potential to become world-class, but Madrid will surely buy him back if that’s the case. With that being said, Milan needed to complete this deal. The buyback option is probably what got Madrid to say yes in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milan’s return to Champions League means everything to the team.<\/a> It’s not just the injection of money that the Champions League brings, but also the return to relevancy and prominence. Milan is one of the most historic clubs in football history, and the Champions League never feels complete without the\u00a0<\/span>Rossoneri<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Expectations for Milan in the Champions League are low. They are nowhere near where they have to be to compete with football’s other giants. To make it out of the Champions League group stage, while simultaneously playing well in Italy, requires strong depth. If Diaz is not Milan’s starter, then he’s an ideal option off the bench.<\/span><\/p>\n

The deal is a win for both clubs. Milan gets back an exciting youngster who is more than ready to produce for the club. Madrid gets to see one of their talents grow and bring him back if they choose to.<\/span><\/p>\n
