Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> defender Serge Aurier says he has reached the “end of a cycle” and is set to leave the club this summer.<\/p>\n

Despite still having one year left on his current contract, the Frenchman says he has reached an agreement to leave the club and that a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> would be his ideal choice.<\/p>\n

‘Time to Look Elsewhere’<\/h3>\n

Aurier’s time in North London has been a difficult one overall. He never truly settled down at the club after joining from PSG in 2017 and his stint is looking more and more likely to finish early.<\/p>\n

In an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe<\/a>, Aurier said: “Everyone knows that if I wanted to extend my contract at Tottenham, I’d have already done so.<\/p>\n

“I’m not going to do that in six months’ time. I’ve experienced the Premier League and a Champions League final. I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’s time to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never hidden my desire to go back to PSG one day. It’s my boyhood club and I’m still a PSG supporter, so I feel free to talk about it, but I don’t want people to think I’m just issuing a come-and-get-me plea and I’m not closing the door on anyone.<\/p>\n

“If the club does make an offer this summer, PSG will certainly be among my top choices.”<\/p>\n

Managerless Spurs are currently in talks<\/a> with PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino over a dramatic return to the club. The Argentine was a huge success with the North London side, guiding them to the Champions League final in 2019.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It could well be a case of one departing to PSG and one arriving from there this summer for Spurs, although the PSG hierarchy are confident of Pochettino staying put.<\/div>\n

The club have reportedly<\/a> triggered an extension in his contract meaning that he is now tied to the Parisians until 2023, making negotiations significantly more difficult.<\/div>\n

Perhaps a slight piece of good news for Tottenham is, though, that Real Madrid, who were initially sounding out Pochettino as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane, now look set to appoint Carlo Ancelotti<\/a> instead.<\/div>\n
