This week is all about transfer rumours, with reports suggesting a U&#8217;s defender is a target for a Championship club and a midfielder is looked at by a League One rival, while Oxford are keeping an eye on a Cambridge United midfielder.<\/p>\n<h2>Oxford United Weekly Round-Up: Transfer Rumours Begin With Two Linked to Moves Away<\/h2>\n<h3>Bristol City Linked With Rob Atkinson<\/h3>\n<p>On Monday, Oxford United defender Rob Atkinson was linked with a move to Bristol City, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeeMacGee\/status\/1396801384503287810?s=19\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to Gregor MacGregor.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The 22-year-old has had a stellar debut season in the Football League, having only joined the club in January 2020. The defender has made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.<\/p>\n<p>Atkinson, who was named in the League One Team of the Season, has piqued the interest of manager <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/04\/29\/bristol-city-nigel-pearson-three-year-deal\/\" target=\"_self\">Nigel Pearson<\/a>, who is looking for stability in his backline.<\/p>\n<h3>Oxford &#8216;In Race&#8217; to Sign Paul Digby<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/sources-charlton-athletic-lead-sunderland-and-oxford-in-race-to-sign-cambridge-ace-digby\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to the Football Insider<\/a>, Oxford are one of several League One clubs looking to sign Cambridge United midfielder, Paul Digby.<\/p>\n<p>Sunderland and Charlton Athletic are also believed to be interested, with the Addicks the favourite to land the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Digby will be playing in the third tier regardless of a summer move after the U&#8217;s secured promotion from League Two, but he has refused a new contract at the Abbey Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>If Oxford were to sign the holding midfielder, it would provide cover should <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/01\/31\/oxford-united-reject-transfer-offer-for-cameron-brannagan\/\" target=\"_self\">Cameron Brannagan<\/a> depart, with the 25-year-old linked with a move away.<\/p>\n<h3>Mark Sykes Linked With The Tractor Boys<\/h3>\n<p>As reported by Mike Bacon at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eadt.co.uk\/sport\/ipswich-town\/town-transfer-rumours-8014936\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the East Anglian Daily Times<\/a>, U&#8217;s midfielder Mark Sykes has emerged as a transfer target for Ipswich Town.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old, who joined the club in January 2019, has made 91 appearances for the U&#8217;s, including 41 this term.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder was out of contract in the summer but the club have recently activated a one-year extension.<\/p>\n<h3>Retained List and Josh Ruffels News<\/h3>\n<p>On Tuesday, Oxford United announced their retained list. Of the senior players, only Rob Hall and Dylan Asonganyi have been released, while Anthony Forde and John Mousinho have been offered new deals.<\/p>\n<p>The club haven&#8217;t offered Josh Ruffels a new deal, with the defender having been offered fresh terms already this season. As a result, U&#8217;s boss Karl Robinson had given the Oxford-born defender until the weekend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordmail.co.uk\/sport\/19333272.oxford-united-want-contract-decision-josh-ruffels\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">to decide on his future<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/05\/07\/josh-ruffels-nottingham-forest\/\" target=\"_self\">Nottingham Forest one club that has shown interest<\/a> in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<h3>Sting in the Tail Following Bee&#8217;s Promotion<\/h3>\n<p>Following Brentford&#8217;s promotion to the Premier League, Oxford have missed out on a bonus themselves with a clause in Shandon Baptiste&#8217;s contract.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old, who made the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2020\/01\/31\/brentford-sign-shandon-baptiste-and-tariqe-fosu-from-oxford-united\/\" target=\"_self\">switch to Griffin Park along with Tariqe Fosu in January 2020<\/a>, hasn&#8217;t made enough appearances for Brentford.
