Arguably the hottest striker in the world right now, Erling Haaland is showing respect to Borussia Dortmund<\/a>. Despite interest from a host of European giants, the Norwegian will be \u201crespectful\u201d of his contract<\/a> with the Bundesliga club and their wishes.<\/p>\n

As reported\u00a0by Eurosport, Haaland was speaking to compatriot Jan Age Fjortoft in a recent interview<\/a>. He said: \u201cChampions League spot secured was so important to me, I want to play Champions League<\/a> football. And I\u2019ve big dreams. I just won my first major trophy and it was a great feeling. So, I want to win more trophies.”<\/p>\n

Haaland has been heavily linked all year with Europe\u2019s elite clubs.\u00a0Both Manchester City <\/a>and Manchester United\u00a0<\/a>have been linked with the Dortmund man<\/a>, with both clubs desperate for a long-term main man upfront.<\/p>\n

Sergio Aguero leaving this summer and Edison Cavani getting on in age, Haaland would solve their attacking issues in an instant. The Haaland family have fond memories of their time with the blue half of the city for sure. But there was a long-running rivalry with the red half. Erling\u2019s father Alf-Inge Haaland spent a lot of time with rival clubs City and Leeds United and there was certainly no love lost with Roy Keane over the years.<\/p>\n

Borussia Dortmund Set High Price for High Talent<\/h3>\n

With there being little secret of Haaland\u2019s place on clubs\u2019 summer shopping lists, Dortmund have set their price. \u00a3150 million is the fee<\/a> to claim one of the hottest talents in world football. But in a pandemic hit climate, this is doubtful.<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail reports<\/a> that Real Madrid are at the front of the queue for Haaland. Though even they will have to wait until 2022. There is a rumoured agreement between the two clubs for the first refusal on his signature come the end of next season.<\/p>\n

Patience Needed for the Powers in Europe<\/h3>\n

With super-agent Mino Raiola touring Europe<\/a> to discuss his client’s future, this recent interview seems to be intended to settle Dortmund fan’s nerves. Until the transfer window closes, they will all be crossing their fingers, hoping that they get to see their hitman for one more year as they push to challenge for the title next season. Erling Haaland has shown respect to Dortmund and does not want to leave on bad terms if he can help it.<\/p>\n

The real issue will come in the summer of 2022. As then, Haaland will be available for a snippet of the price. The cost will be \u00a3150 million this summer, but less than half of that at \u00a367 million next summer.<\/a> Can Dortmund afford that difference? If they qualify for the Champions League and sell another asset such as Jadon Sancho? Then, of course, they can.<\/p>\n

But money talks, and so does Mino Raiola.<\/p>\n
