And the news should come as no surprise. After all, despite topping both the goal and assists chart, Spurs sit outside of the top four and out of ideas. Yet, at the same time, Alasdair Gold is reporting that, despite being frustrated, the forward has not asked to leave- creating questions around Harry Kane’s future.

They are manager-less, the fans are protesting the owners and fortunes do not seem to be changing. Their is a growing feeling of dismay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Harry Kane’s departure would be the nail in the coffin.

The forward’s legend status at Spurs would still remain- that is unquestionable- as even the fans would understand a desire to leave. A player as clinical, as world class as Kane does not come around all too often. So, when that player does arrive, they will want silverware to match their golden touch. Spurs simply cannot provide Harry Kane with that.

Harry Kane’s Future: What Next?

Harry Kane’s Quality Deserves Silverware in the Future

At 27, turning 28 this year, it is a case of now or never for Harry Kane, who will be desperate to add trophies to his goals whilst in his prime. This summer looks the likeliest so far in regards to his departure. Spurs, when the forward has been in his prime, have never looked so lost. How can they expect one of, if not the best forwards in the world to stay and play in the Europa League for a second consecutive season?

How can they expect their star man to stay when they don’t even have a permanent manager heading into the final stages of the season? There was once a time when it looked like Harry Kane could win trophies at Spurs. Under Mauricio Pochettino, he was involved in a couple of title races before falling short. He has also lost a Champions League final in what was Pochettino and Spurs at their peak.

Since then, Kane has lost a Carabao Cup final and exited the Europa League. As the years have gone by, it has got worse and worse. Harry Kane’s quality deserves to be met with trophies, whether at Spurs or elsewhere in the future.

Unfinished Business at Spurs

As reported by Alasdair Gold, Harry Kane is indeed frustrated- like any Spurs player must be right now- but he has not asked to leave. He is not the type to create problems, especially with the state the club are in. And, he will recognise that state; he will recognise that now is not the time to rock the boat but, instead, steady the ship.

Harry Kane deserves to be selfish, yes, but he is not the type. He has unfinished business at Spurs- where he has risen through the ranks. Kane, himself, may feel as though one trophy at his boyhood club outweighs the several he could win elsewhere.

He could so easily follow in the footsteps of Dimitar Berbatov’s footsteps by leaving, but he could also stay and break Jimmy Greaves’ record of 220 goals for the club. Currently, he is on 165 goals and Harry Kane’s future could see him score 56 more goals to break that aforementioned record.

Clubs Interested

The term ‘clubs interested’ should probably be used loosely here because it is not a case of interest, it is a case of money. Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all reportedly financially willing to secure a deal. All three Premier League clubs need a clinical striker.

City need to replace the departing Sergio Aguero. United have been desperate for a world-class finisher under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for far too long, and Chelsea seem unable to rely on Timo Werner to produce the finishing touch.

Kane, himself, should he leave, will want to stay in England- where he has been his entire life and where his children are growing up. Whatever Harry Kane’s future holds, one certainty is that he deserves silverware.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

According to Sky Sports, Harry Kane has reiterated his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
