{"id":590839,"date":"2021-05-10T11:45:53","date_gmt":"2021-05-10T15:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/?p=590839"},"modified":"2021-05-10T11:45:53","modified_gmt":"2021-05-10T15:45:53","slug":"juventus-european-super-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/05\/10\/juventus-european-super-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Juventus Face Serie A Expulsion if European Super League Involvement Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The president of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/espnfc\/status\/1391756070641614854?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Italian FA has stated<\/a> that Juventus will be removed from <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/05\/06\/jose-mourinho-shadow-self\/\" target=\"_self\">Serie A<\/a> unless they pull out of the European Super League plans before next season.<\/p>\n<h2>Juventus Will Be Expelled From Serie A if the Club Fails to Pull Out of Super League<\/h2>\n<h3>The Club Remains Part of Super League Plans Despite Exodus<\/h3>\n<p>Italian FA president Gabriele Gravina confirmed today on Naples radio station\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kisskissnapoli.it\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Kiss Kiss<\/em><\/a> that the Turin club must pull out of the plans to form a European Super League if they are to remain part of Italy&#8217;s top flight.<\/p>\n<p>Juventus remain part of the ESL plans with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/04\/24\/returning-players-jordi-alba\/\" target=\"_self\">Barcelona<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/04\/22\/real-madrid-barcelona-debts\/\" target=\"_self\">Real Madrid<\/a>, despite the other Italian clubs involved in the project removing themselves within 48 hours of the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona&#8217;s official website released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcbarcelona.com\/en\/club\/news\/2132297\/statement-regarding-the-super-league\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> two days ago that came from each of the clubs still involved with the league which confirmed that they are still committed to the plans.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the stance of\u00a0<em>I Bianconeri<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skysports.com\/football\/news\/12961\/12302750\/european-super-league-juventus-face-serie-a-expulsion-if-breakaway-plans-persist-italian-fa-president\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gravina said<\/a>: &#8220;The rules are clear. If Juventus is still part of the Super League when it enters next season, it can&#8217;t participate in Serie A, I would be sorry for the fans but rules are rules and they apply to everyone. I hope this holdout ends soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Juventus Could Also Face Ban From UEFA<\/h3>\n<p>While the three clubs maintain that the plans will go ahead, they are likely to receive a ban from European competition if they do not concede defeat to UEFA soon.<\/p>\n<p>Juventus, who dropped out of the Champions League places in Serie A after a 3-0 defeat to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/05\/10\/zlatan-ibrahimovic-injury-update\/\" target=\"_self\">AC Milan<\/a> last night, are currently refusing to be reintegrated with European football&#8217;s governing body.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/skykaveh\/status\/1390955401617813507?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kaveh Solhekol<\/a> confirmed that the clubs still involved with the Super League plans are likely to face a ban from the Champions League, sating on Twitter: \u201cReal Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus still refusing to give up on Super League. Joint statement says they want to talk to UEFA and FIFA about way forward.
