The reported Edinson Cavani Manchester United contract extension has put the speculation<\/a> around his future to rest, according to Fabrizio Romano.<\/a><\/p>\n

Cavani Signs New Contract With Manchester United<\/h2>\n

Another Season Has Been Added to Cavani’s Contract<\/h3>\n

Rumours had been circulating about the striker’s future since his father Luis publicly claimed that Cavani was ‘not comfortable’ in England in March. Romano revealed<\/a> today that an official announcement from the club and player regarding the contract extension is expected in the next few days.<\/p>\n

Romano confirmed the news on Twitter today saying<\/a>: “Edinson Cavani has signed his contract extension with Manchester United, here we go! The agreement has been completed, Cavani has accepted to stay after Man Utd board and Solskjaer were pushing to keep him. Confirmed and done deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cEdinson Cavani has signed until June 2022 with Manchester United, one more season. Official announcement expected in the next days but the deal is done and completed.”<\/p>\n

The Uruguayan hasn’t been able to become a consistent starter this season for several reasons including quarantine, injuries, and suspensions, but has impressed when playing. He\u00a0has offered a new dimension to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and scored 15 goals despite being unavailable for much of the season.<\/p>\n

Cavani Will Be Key for Mason Greenwood at Manchester United<\/h3>\n

Solskjaer had maintained throughout the speculation created by Luis Cavani that no decision had been made regarding a new contract and that the club was ‘hopeful<\/a>‘ of an extension. He recognises the importance of the 34-year-old’s influence this season, and ‘pushed’ to keep him with the board, according to Romano.<\/p>\n

Much has been made by pundits<\/a> of the potential lessons United’s academy prodigy Mason Greenwood can learn from the experienced Cavani.<\/p>\n

The expertise in the centre-forward role Cavani has displayed bodes well for Greenwood, who recently spoke<\/a> about his admiration of United’s number seven, saying: “He\u2019s still scoring goals, it was exactly the same against Roma. It\u2019s nice to watch there on the bench, to watch his movement when he scores.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s his movement, everyone knows he can do it but they can\u2019t stop it, I\u2019m sure we\u2019re all learning off him, me, Rashy, all the attackers and all the young lads are looking up to him so it\u2019s good to have him there.”<\/p>\n
