Chelsea<\/a>\u00a0supporters, three to be exact, will be present at the club’s board meetings from July 1, the club have announced.<\/a><\/p>\n

Chelsea announced that the supporters, selected through an ‘election and selection process’ will be present during board meetings ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

The London club has continued the effort to appease the anger of fans after the fallout of the European Super League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Protests at Old Trafford<\/a> on Sunday demonstrated continued anger from fans at the ownership of clubs involved in the attempted breakaway league. Chelsea have been one of the more successful clubs in keeping fans onside since the Super League failure.<\/p>\n

The Blues have made another step in the process of reconciliation with fans with this move, which was announced in a statement<\/a> on the club’s website today. The statement read: “Chelsea Football Club announces that, as from 1 July, there will be supporter presence at the Club\u2019s board meetings. Three supporter advisors, picked through an election and selection process, will attend board meetings to ensure general supporter sentiment is considered as part of the Club\u2019s decision-making process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Club will now consult with the Fans\u2019 Forum and several non-official supporter groups to discuss the Club\u2019s proposed process for picking the three supporter advisors. Criteria for nominations as well as final selection will ensure that the supporter presence is representative of our supporter base generally and is inclusive and diverse. A new selection will be made before the start of each season.”<\/p>\n

The statement claimed that fans will be present at a minimum of four board meetings per year, and more if deemed appropriate. It also provided details on the remuneration of fans involved at the meetings, which will be a \u00a32,500-pound donation to a charity of their choice from the club.<\/p>\n

While the supporters will provide the fans’ view on several matters at the club, these will not include ‘players, staff, the academy or related matters’. The elected fan representatives will not be given voting rights.<\/p>\n
