The 58-year-old won the Scudetto in both of his two seasons in charge, as well as the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italia.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mourinho&#8217;s time in charge of Inter Milan is best remembered for their Champions League triumph in the 2009\/10 season. After finishing second in their group, Mourinho steered them through a tough group stage, defeating<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2021\/04\/28\/tammy-abraham-price\/\" target=\"_self\"> Chelsea<\/a>, CSKA Moscow and Barcelona on the way to the final.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Portuguese coach is a much-loved figure in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Mourinho has signed a three-year deal with Roma, committing his future to the club until 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement of the move, Mourinho said to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asroma.com\/en\/news\/2021\/5\/club-statement-jose-mourinho\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">official Roma website<\/a>: \u201cThank you to the Friedkin family for choosing me to lead this great club and to be part of their vision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter meetings with the ownership and Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for AS Roma. It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season.<\/p>\n<p>Club president Dan Friedkin added: \u201cWe are thrilled and delighted to welcome Jos\u00e9 Mourinho into the AS Roma family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA great champion who has won trophies at every level, Jos\u00e9\u00a0will provide tremendous leadership and experience to our ambitious project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe appointment of Jos\u00e9\u00a0is a huge step in building a long-term and consistent winning culture throughout the club.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Is There Pressure on Jose Mourinho to Succeed?<\/h3>\n<p>Despite his glamorous and successful career, there is pressure on Mourinho to succeed at the Stadio Olimpico.<\/p>\n<p>The 58-year-old is not the revered and feared manager that he once was. Many argue that he has failed to adapt to football moving forward in terms of tactics over the last five years, and that has meant he is not viewed as the manager that he once was.<\/p>\n<p>The pressure to succeed follows his dismal spell in charge of Tottenham. He was appointed by Daniel Levy in order to bring trophies and success to the club but instead left empty-handed after 18 months in charge.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Mourinho will be hoping that he can get his hands on silverware once again with Roma.
