Union Berlin have signed Keita Endo<\/a> on a permanent basis. The Japan international joined the Bundesliga outfit on a season-long loan from Yokohama F Marinos<\/a> at the start of last season.<\/p>\n

Winger Has Impressed During Loan Spell on K\u00f6pernick<\/h3>\n

Keita Endo joined Union Berlin on a season-long loan back in July, with the option to buy. Now, the German club have activated that clause and signed the Japan international for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old took a while to settle into life in Germany but has impressed manager Urs Fischer enough to earn himself a permanent deal.<\/p>\n

Endo has turned out 14 times in the Bundesliga, with his one goal coming in a 5-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld at the Stadion An der Alten F\u00f6rsterei back in November.<\/p>\n

Despite only starting four Bundesliga matches, Endo has impressed on the ten occasions on which he has been substituted on.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the club’s official website<\/a>, Endo said: “Despite the language barrier, I was given a really warm welcome here.<\/p>\n

“I felt at home from day one and now I’m even more excited to be part of the team. Personally, I’ve been able to gain a lot of experience in the matches so far and I’m looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga next season.”<\/p>\n

Oliver Ruhnert, Union Berlin’s Managing Director for Professional Football, added: “Keita has already shown the quality he brings to the table despite missing the start of the season due to injury and the difficult pandemic situation.<\/p>\n

“Keita is ambitious, determined and very talented. He will have the time to develop permanently and help us further.”<\/p>\n

Another Boost Ahead of Next Season<\/h3>\n

The addition of Keita Endo will be a welcome boost for Union as the club have already begun to build for next season. So far, Die Eisernen<\/em> have already added midfielder Rani Khedira<\/a> and defender Paul Jaeckel<\/a> from Augsburg and Greuther F\u00fcrth respectively. Unlike the transfer of Endo, which involved a fee, these two players both arrived as free transfers.<\/p>\n
