Leicester City<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0interested in signing left-back Robin Gosens from Atalanta this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leicester Want to Sign Robin Gosens From Atalanta<\/h2>\n

Brendan Rodgers is Seeking a New Full-Back This Summer<\/h3>\n

Romano confirmed that Leicester are interested in signing a new left-back this summer. It was also confirmed that the club is now targeting Gosens having previously looked at Sporting Lisbon full-back Nuno Mendes. They opted against trying to sign the 18-year-old as he was considered ‘too expensive’.<\/p>\n

The Foxes sold Ben Chilwell to Chelsea<\/a> last summer for \u00a350 million and used some of that revenue to sign former Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne in the same window.<\/p>\n

Castagne has played at left-back this season, but more often on the right flank. Specialist left-back Christian Fuchs and James Thomas have filled the role this season, but neither have cemented their name on the team sheet.<\/p>\n

26-year-old Gosens has impressed for Atalanta this season and has reportedly attracted interest<\/a> from Inter Milan ahead of this summer’s transfer window.<\/p>\n

The tweet from Romano also revealed Manchester City are not in advanced discussions with Atalanta about signing Gosens as some rumours circulating had suggested.<\/p>\n

Gosens Will Bring Attacking Intent<\/h3>\n

The German international has been a key figure in Atalanta’s recent success, adding nine goals in 25 Serie A appearances this season.<\/p>\n

At 6’1, he is a powerful figure in aerial duels and rarely makes defensive errors. He is also fully capable of getting forward and being a goal scorer. He is one of the club’s top scorers so far this season and was last season.<\/p>\n

He plays a full-back\/wing-back type role similarly to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso. He tends to overlap and underlap and try to create angles to use his impressive shooting ability.<\/p>\n

At Leicester Gosens can contribute goals and assists even more often than Chilwell did, and become the consistent left-back Rodgers has been missing since the England international left for London.<\/p>\n
