Following the withdrawal of Chelsea and Manchester City,<\/a> now Arsenal<\/a>, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool<\/a> withdraw from the planned European Super League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manchester United and Liverpool Withdraw From Super League<\/h2>\n

Last Four English Clubs to Withdraw<\/h3>\n

The final four clubs, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool have now joined Manchester City and Chelsea in withdrawing from their place in the breakaway European Super League.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have announced via their Twitter<\/a> account that they have now started proceedings to withdraw from the group.<\/p>\n

Liverpool also announced via their Twitter<\/a> account that they are no longer taking part in the ESL.<\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> have also now officially confirmed their withdrawal from the competition but only one club in these statements has actually responded by apologising to their own fans and that is Arsenal<\/a>. In their tweet, Arsenal said that;<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made a mistake and we are sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anger Still Exists<\/h3>\n

Despite the fans managing to show their power and earning a victory, there is still anger that the situation ever arose at all. Questions need to be answered as to why this scheme even started to be discussed but most importantly why fans, managers and players were simply bypassed in any negotiations.<\/p>\n

Tottenham\u2019s chairman Daniel Levy had this to say;<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe regret the anxiety and upset caused by the ESL proposal. We felt it was important that our club participated in the development of a possible new structure that sought to better ensure financial fair play and financial sustainability whilst delivering significantly increased support for the wider football pyramid.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that we should never stand still and that the sport should constantly review competitions and governance to ensure the game we all love continues to evolve and excite fans around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should like to thank all those supporters who presented their considered opinions.\u201d<\/p>\n

With no apology offered it is likely that fans will continue to challenge their clubs\u2019 owners and there could yet be further consequences in the coming days and weeks.<\/p>\n
