Manchester United<\/a> has received a \u20ac7,000 (\u00a36,000) fine from UEFA for ‘improper conduct’ during the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Granada.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Given ‘Improper Conduct’ Fine<\/h2>\n

Fine Given Due to Punishment Handed Out by Referee<\/h3>\n

UEFA’s Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body have decided to fine United due to the yellow cards given to the club’s players against Granada.<\/p>\n

Five yellow cards were dished out by referee Artur Dias to Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Nemanja Matic, and Scott McTominay.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese match official handed out five cards to United’s players after they committed 12 fouls throughout the match. Granada received two yellow cards after committing 14 fouls throughout the match.<\/p>\n

The cards that were given to Maguire, McTominay, and Shaw mean the trio are suspended for the second-leg clash on April 15. Paul Pogba is now one booking away from a suspension.<\/p>\n

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about whether the suspensions his players received were a blessing in disguise because the trio will get a much-needed rest earlier today at a press conference<\/a>. He responded saying: “It is never a positive not to have everyone available. We have players ready to deputise. We are ready to deal with that.”<\/p>\n

Solskjaer also dismissed the notion that he may rest players tomorrow evening to avoid any more suspensions, saying: “We go into the game having to do everything we need to do to win. We don’t want any lazy yellow cards, just play the game properly.”<\/p>\n

United Can Not Be Complacent<\/h3>\n

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game, Solskjaer emphasised the importance of a good performance from his side tomorrow night, saying: “It is a quarter-final in Europe, they need to score goals. We have seen them against Barcelona, Real Madrid how dangerous they can be. We have to play a good game and not give them those opportunities.”<\/p>\n
