Nottingham Forest Seemingly Eliminate Relegation Concerns With QPR Victory<\/span><\/h3>\n

Nottingham Forest<\/a> earned all three points with a 3-1 victory<\/a> over Queens Park Rangers<\/a> to seemingly eliminate any relegation concerns they may have had.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Mighten opened the scoring in the 44th minute, tapping home from\u00a0<\/span>Sammy Ameobi<\/span><\/a>‘s cross. The lead was doubled 18 minutes into the second half when\u00a0<\/span>Lewis Grabban<\/span><\/a>\u00a0found the top corner with a powerful effort from just outside the area.\u00a0<\/span>James Garner<\/span><\/a>\u00a0made it three in the 69th minute when his free-kick looped straight over\u00a0<\/span>Seny Dieng<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the QPR goal.\u00a0<\/span>Lyndon Dykes<\/span><\/a>\u00a0pulled a goal back in the third minute of injury time, but a classy Forest performance was rewarded with a valuable victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

The win over QPR helped bridge a 13-point gap from Rotherham United in 22nd place, whilst the R’s remain in 12th place and will be preparing for next season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chairboys Convincingly Sweep Rotherham Aside<\/span><\/h3>\n

Gareth Ainsworth<\/span><\/a>‘s Wycombe Wanderers<\/a> scored three without reply<\/a> to sweep Rotherham United<\/a> aside, giving the Chairboys one final lifeline for Championship survival.<\/span><\/p>\n

Admiral Muskwe<\/span><\/a>\u00a0fired the visitors into the lead in the second minute, after he had latched onto a misplaced Rotherham header before coolly slotting past\u00a0<\/span>Viktor Johansson<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the Millers’ goal.\u00a0<\/span>Jason McCarthy<\/span><\/a>\u00a0extended the Chairboys’ lead in the 24th minute, with his deflected effort wrong-footing Johansson. The three points were secured in the 83rd minute when\u00a0<\/span>David Wheeler<\/span><\/a>\u00a0calmly slotted past the Rotherham goalkeeper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wycombe sit eight points from safety and whilst it still seems unlikely, Ainsworth’s men will battle until the possibility dies. For the Millers, they now find themselves six points from Birmingham City in 21st, but still possess four games in hand on the Blues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday Stun Cardiff to Boost Their Survival Hopes and Headline Championship Review Matchday 40<\/h3>\n

Darren Moore<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has provided Sheffield Wednesda<\/a>y fans with a bit of hope in what remains of the season. The Owls’ 5-0 victory<\/a> over Cardiff City<\/a> could inspire a dramatic ‘great escape’.<\/span><\/p>\n

Julian Borner<\/span><\/a>\u00a0opened the scoring for the hosts in the fourth minute, heading home from\u00a0<\/span>Barry Bannan<\/span><\/a>‘s corner kick. In the 20th minute,\u00a0<\/span>Callum Paterson<\/span><\/a>\u00a0finished off a well-worked Wednesday move with a brilliant volley to double the lead, before Adam Reach’s free-kick made it three just a couple of minutes later.\u00a0<\/span>Jordan Rhodes<\/span><\/a>\u00a0added a fourth 20 minutes into the second half when he found the bottom corner after an inch-perfect counter-attacking move. Reach made it five and completed the scoring in the 69th minute to stun their play-off chasing opponents and bolster their chances of staying in the division.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday sit six points off safety, but will now have confidence going into the remainder of the season, whilst Cardiff’s gap from the top six is now eight points.<\/span><\/p>\n
